Shaving shoulder and around guardrail is done to ensure proper drainage around the bridge approach and guardrail. This work is scheduled as needed when the ground is not too frozen.

Procedures

1. Remove buildup of material on shoulder around approach and under guardrail by best methods available.

2. Ensure proper drainage away from bridge and roadway.

Safety

Do not block drainage area with excess material.
