MGS Information
Current General Services Specifications (MGS) By Subject

This article establishes inspection and sampling procedures for lubricating products purchased by MoDOT on an as-needed basis.

1112.1 Procedure

Samples of lubricating products are to be obtained by district Operations personnel when requested by the Director, General Services or the district General Services Manager.

1112.jpg

If samples are taken, the sample size shall be as follows:

1112.1.1 Universal Hydraulic/Transmission Oil, Multi-Grade Lubricating Oil, Grade 15W-40, Multi-Purpose Gear Oil- Grade SAE 80W-90, Dexron II Transmission Fluid

Samples are to consist of one quart (1 liter) from each designated lot or blend. The samples are to be submitted to the Laboratory in one-quart (1 liter) screw top cans.

1112.1.2 Multi-Purpose Lithium Grease NLGI Grade 2

Samples are to consist of one gallon (4 liters) from each designated lot or blend. The samples are to be submitted to the Laboratory in one-gallon (4 liters) friction top cans.

Submit these samples to the Laboratory as directed in EPG 106.3.1.2 Submission of Laboratory Samples.

1112.2 Laboratory Testing Guidelines

This article establishes procedures for Laboratory testing and reporting samples of lubricating products. The requirements are set forth in a bid request.

1112.2.1 Procedure

Lubricating products shall be tested for the properties shown herein in accordance with the applicable ASTM specification shown in this article.

Test data and calculations shall be recorded in Laboratory workbooks. Test results shall then be recorded through AASHTOWARE Project (AWP).
