504.1 Construction Inspection (for Sec 504)

504.1.1 Material (for Sec 504.2)

The concrete mix for bridge approach slabs shall be in accordance with Sec 501. The bridge approach slab shall be constructed of pavement concrete or an approved Class B-1.

504.1.2 Construction Requirements (for Sec 504.3)

This item is not subject to the Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) requirements of Sec 502. Particular attention must be given to the grade of the side forms to obtain the desired riding quality. Hand finish methods, as defined by Section 502.4.8.6 of the Standard Specifications, may be used for the concrete approach pavement. The concrete approach pavement shall be cured in accordance with Sec 703 for bridge decks but does not require a concrete sealer.
