WELCOME
RECENT POLICY CHANGES IN THE EPG
New girders are delivered for the new U.S. 69 bridge over the Missouri River at Riverside, MO. The new bridge will be open to traffic in December.
A MoDOT crew conducts core sampling along Rte. 59 near Ginger Blue in McDonald‬ County. The highway is closed until further notice while damage from the Christmas weekend ‎flood‬ is assessed and repairs can be made.
Phillips Hardy employees remove the old deck from the Rte. 13 bridge over Table Rock Lake at Kimberling City. Traffic is down to one lane while the work is being done. The $10 million project will be completed in May 2016.

MoDOT has made great strides to build a good transportation system and increase taxpayers' trust in its ability to deliver what was promised. Innovative concepts, such as Practical Design and design-build, were used to deliver those commitments and have made MoDOT a leader in the transportation industry.

These forward-thinking, innovative concepts are reflected in the ENGINEERING POLICY GUIDE (EPG). This document provides a single reference for all engineering and engineering-related guidance by combining the former Right of Way, Design, Bridge, Construction, Traffic and Maintenance manuals.

MediaWiki, the engine behind the Wikipedia on the World Wide Web, is the software delivering the EPG. Over 30 million hits on the EPG endorse this format to be easy to navigate and pleasing to read. A small HELP ARTICLE is included to assist with helpful hints on how to use the EPG as well as other points of interest.

Perhaps you've wondered how many hits the most popular EPG articles have. As of late January, the numbers of hits are:
20. EPG 136, 127373 10. EPG 616, 176049

New Standard Detailing Note

1/25/16: New note, B3.34, prevents direct contact between different materials.

EPG 236.5 Property Management

1/21/16: Numerous revisions were made so that this article now reflects current practice.

Appraisal Considerations for Manufactured Homes

1/13/16: Guidance was updated to current practice pertaining to how a mobile home is determined to be real or not real property.

EPG 712.1.5.3 Rotational-Capacity Testing and Installation of A325 Type 3 High Strength Bolts

1/11/16: This new subarticle provides best practices for bolt up testing. Guidance will provide a better quality product and reduce conflicts on acceptance criteria.

EPG 771.2 Bridge Cleaning and Flushing

1/5/16: This article was revised to comply with the MDNR permit. Also, Guidance on Aquatic Invasive Species Control BMPs was added.

Deadline for Submitting Proposals to the Engineering Policy Group

1/5/16: The submittal deadlines have been moved up about a week in EPG Ballot Cycles.

EPG 643.4 Railroads

12/30/15: Much of this article was revised to reflect current practices and to clarify coordination with the Multimodal Railroad group.

Potential Storm Water Controls Table

12/30/15: This table was clarified and expanded.

TMS Maps User Guide

12/23/15: This new guide explains TMS and assists with the various tools available when mapping.

EPG 131.2 Proprietary Items and Public Interest Findings

12/17/15: Guidance was revised to align with the MoDOT/FHWA oversight and partnering agreements. Revision ensures submitted items receive appropriate approvals.

Required Notices and Posters

12/11/15: Several required posters and notices have been updated, including FHWA Form 1022, OSHA 3165, WH-1420 and the Unemployment Benefit Law.
