RECENT POLICY CHANGES IN THE EPG
Watch as crews fill in the last of "The Beast", the largest gap resulting from the Missouri River flooding on Route 136 in Atchison County .
In the Family Spree, more than 100 people biked, ran and walked on the new Rte. 63 at Kirksville. Two weeks later the new highway opened.

MoDOT has made great strides to build a good transportation system and increase taxpayers' trust in its ability to deliver what was promised. Innovative concepts, such as Practical Design and design-build, were used to deliver those commitments and have made MoDOT a leader in the transportation industry.

These forward-thinking, innovative concepts are reflected in the ENGINEERING POLICY GUIDE (EPG). This document provides a single reference for all engineering and engineering-related guidance by combining the former Right of Way, Design, Bridge, Construction, Traffic and Maintenance manuals.

MediaWiki, the engine behind the Wikipedia on the World Wide Web, is the software delivering the EPG. Millions of hits on the EPG endorse this format to be easy to navigate and pleasing to read. A small HELP ARTICLE is included to assist with helpful hints on how to use the EPG as well as other points of interest.

Area Engineer Mike Schupp, left, consults with Resident Engineer Charles Sullivan on progress made at Routes 63 and H in Boone Co. The $9.8 million project will add a diamond interchange and 3.5 miles of new southbound lanes between Rte. 163 and Rte. H.
In a “two-lift” pavement process, 1500 ft. of a thinner layer of “smog-eating” concrete (containing a photocatalytic additive of titanium oxide) is laid on top of a thicker layer of concrete along the new Rte. 141 in St. Louis County. Smog is absorbed by the additive, broken down by sunlight and released as nitrogen and carbon dioxide. MoDOT is the first to use the additive on a road project in the U.S.
