Recent Policy Changes in the EPG

Void Slab Calculations 8/12/21: In EPG 751.21.1.3 Geometric Properties, the geometry figures were revised with updated voided slab beam calculations. In EPG 751.21.3.2.2 End Blocks Lengths and Weights, end block weights were adjusted to conform with the new void areas and in EPG 751.21.3.8 Vent Pipes for Stream Crossings the 15" diaphragm weights were also adjusted to the new void areas. Expanding the NTPEP Compliance for Buy America 7/29/21: EPG 106.9 Buy America Requirement has been revised to make it easier for contractors and suppliers to comply with the Buy America policy. Bearing Pads at Int Bents 7/28/21: In EPG 751.11.2.1 Elastomeric Bearings, guidance for bearing pads at intermediate bents has been clarified. Reporting Damaged Guardrail or Guard Cable 7/27/21: In EPG 606 Guardrail and Guard Cable, a contact number for reporting damaged guardrail or guard cable is now presented. EPG 147.4 Fixed Price Variable Scope (FPVS) Contracting 7/23/21: This article provides guidance for the new contracting method, Fixed Price Variable Scope (FPVS) Contracting, that has been approved by the FHWA. EPG 409 Seal Coat 7/23/21: The Seal Coat Guidelines and JSP package were updated. New Seal Coat Book Job Guidelines and Seal Coat Book Job JSP Package were also added. EPG 402 Bituminous Surface Leveling 7/23/21: The Contract Leveling Course (CLC) Guidelines and associated JSP package were updated. New CLC Book Job Guidelines and CLC Book Job JSP Package were also added. EPG 616.6.89 Radar Speed Advisory System (RSAS) 7/21/21: A link to the new nonstandard JSP, NJSP 21-06 Radar Speed Advisory System, is now available. EPG 903.4.8 Bridge-Mounted Signs and EPG 903.4.9 Bridge-Mounted Structure Designs 7/21/21: Guidance for handling bridge sign attachments was expanded and updated to current established practice. EPG 903.7.49 Community Wayfinding Signs 7/16/21: As a convenience to cities, a simplified document, Key Wayfinding Requirements, is now available. EPG 236.4.7.2 Quitclaim Deed (to the Commission) 7/15/21: Guidance about the determination and documentation of when tenant interest must be released has been expanded and clarified. Material Supplier CUF Frequency 7/15/21: In EPG 146.3.2.3 Commercially Useful Function (CUF), updated guidance about material supplier CUF frequency to every 30 days, regardless of DBE activity. King MASH Composite Block 7/1/21: MoDOT has recently approved a new, MASH-tested composite block for guardrail. System I Structural Steel Coating 6/30/21: In EPG 751.6.2.11 Structural Steel Protective Coatings (Nonweathering Steel), guidance about System I finish field coat was clarified. In EPG 751.50 Standard Detailing Notes, additional options for System I structural steel protective coatings were provided. EPG 146 Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) 6/23/21: Guidance for project bid proposals that include DBE goals has been clarified and expanded. EPG 751.1.3.4 Barrier or Railing Type, Height and Guidelines for Curb Blockouts 6/16/21: Guidance for barrier and railing options on existing bridges has been simplified. EPG 109.10 Contract Assignment Process - Contract Reassignment to a New Contractor 6/15/21: Expanded guidance is now available about how to assign a contract. EPG 616.8.1 Listing of Typical Applications 6/11/21: For greater convenience, a new "effective date" column has been added for each TA in these tables. Prestressed Girders and Beams 6/10/21: In EPG 751.10.1.14 Girder and Beam Haunch Reinforcement, EPG 751.21.3 Details, EPG 751.22.1.2 Geometric Dimensions, EPG 751.22.2.4 Shear, EPG 751.22.3.2 MoDOT Standard Girder Strand Arrangements, EPG 751.22.3.3 NU Standard Girders, EPG 751.22.3.4.2 Shear Reinforcement, EPG 751.22.3.4.3 Anchorage Zone Reinforcement, and EPG 751.50 Standard Detailing Notes, guidance about end section reinforcement for NU girders was revised as was guidance on specifying debonding regions. The requirement for a lifting loop detail was removed as was the reference to the 5-inch projection of WWR. Notes were also revised or removed in accordance with spec book revisions. EPG 201.2.5.1 Open Burning 6/10/21: Guidance about open burning has been expanded. EPG 616.18, Relocation of Service Signs (Supplemental Guide Sign Program Signs) on Construction Projects 6/7/21: Guidance has been updated with current practices and terminology. EPG 107.4 Safety and Sanitary Provisions 5/25/21: New guidance is available to clarify hard hat safety policy. CLC Contractor pdf Files and Contract Seal Coat pdf Plan Sheets 5/25/21: The Contract Leveling Course (CLC) contractor pdf files and Contract Seal Coat pdf plan sheets, in EPG 402 Bituminous Surface Leveling and EPG 409 Seal Coat, respectively, were updated. Several revisions involved safety edge, flag assemblies and rumble strip spacing for CLC projects and flag assemblies for seal coat projects. EPG 153.6 Chief Counsel's Office 5/18/21: Guidance is now available for two new Amended Attorney Services Agreement contracts (CC11 and CC12). Commercially Useful Function (CUF) Determination Form 5/10/212: The CUF Determination Form, discussed in EPG 146.3 Commercially Useful Function Verifications, has been revised with more open ended questions that assist in determining whether a DBE is performing a Commercially Useful Function. The form now includes a field observation section for inspectors to note what they saw in the field.
