RECENT POLICY CHANGES IN THE EPG | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
MoDOT has made great strides to build a good transportation system and increase taxpayers' trust in its ability to deliver what was promised. Innovative concepts, such as Practical Design and design-build, were used to deliver those commitments and have made MoDOT a leader in the transportation industry. These forward-thinking, innovative concepts are reflected in the ENGINEERING POLICY GUIDE (EPG). This document provides a single reference for all engineering and engineering-related guidance by combining the former Right of Way, Design, Bridge, Construction, Traffic and Maintenance manuals. MediaWiki, the engine behind the Wikipedia on the World Wide Web, is the software delivering the EPG. Over 20 million hits on the EPG endorse this format to be easy to navigate and pleasing to read. A small HELP ARTICLE is included to assist with helpful hints on how to use the EPG as well as other points of interest.

Impact Fee Documentation 1/8/15: The yellow box in EPG 121.3 The Statewide Transportation Improvement Program was updated to clarify guidance about documenting impact fee calculations and impact fee waivers. Updated QRG 1/7/15: In EPG 101 Standard Forms, the QRG Change Orders – Mobilization and Contract Bond was updated because our new agreement with FHWA eliminates the need to send any Level 1 or 2 change orders to FHWA for review. 1/6/15: Guidance was revised to conform with the new change order approval criteria that reduces the number of change orders reviewed by FHWA and will improve the efficiency of the review process. EPG 751.37.6.1 Reinforcement Design 1/2/15: The guidance for minimum rock socket length requirements and the commentary on this guidance have been clarified. EPG 110.3 Prevailing Wages and Records 12/26/14: Guidance was revised to increase the number of payrolls that are checked for compliance. Project Documentation 12/24/14: Guidance in EPG 150.1.1 Folder Structure and EPG 150.1.2 File Naming Convention was updated to accommodate SharePoint. 12/24/14: Recommended documentation for change orders and time adjustments has been added. EPG 751.6.2.7 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for Cover Plates 12/22/14: NDT is required for all top cover plates when a bridge is to be redecked. Also, guidance is now provided for when bottom flange cover plates are present. Fiber Reinforced Polymer Slab Drains 12/18/14: In EPG 751.10.3 Bridge Deck Drainage – Slab Drains, EPG 751.40.5 Drainage and EPG 751.50 H7 Slab Drains, Fiber Reinforced Polymer slab drain details and guidance was incorporated into the articles to provide another material option. Cost Estimate Guide for Rural Preliminary Design 12/15/14: In EPG 104.7 Estimates, this document has been updated with figures reflecting new Maintenance Treatment per mile costs. New QRG 12/10/14: A new QRG, Liquidated Damage Adjustments, has been added to EPG 101 Standard Forms. EPG 747 Bridge Reports and Layouts 12/9/14: EPG 748.7 Bridge Reports and Layouts was moved to EPG 747. (The remaining EPG 748 articles were renumbered as needed.) EPG 747's guidance was generally rewritten. The Bridge Survey Report Form was revised to reflect its use for all structures instead of only stream crossings. A Bridge Survey Checklist was also developed for district use. EPG 751.50 Standard Detailing Notes A1 and A2 12/8/14: Notes A1 and A2 were simplified. Note A2.12 was deleted since it is no longer needed. EPG 748.6 High Water Surface Elevation 12/5/14: The term "Design High Water" was revised to "Design Flood Elevation" or "Normal High Water" and the term "High Water" revised to "Base Flood Elevation". EPG 170 Maintenance Activity Planning Guidelines 12/3/14: Updated the Work Scheduling Guide and Index of Printable Planning Guides. References to scrub seal and linseed oil treatments were removed. R328 Bridge Jt. Maintc. and R329 Bridge Cleaning & Flushing codes were added. 12/3/14: All of the JOC JSPs have been updated.
