Coming soon: Electronic MoDOT Spec Book
WELCOME
RECENT POLICY CHANGES IN THE EPG
MHTC Chair Lloyd Carmichael, left, talks with Engineering Policy Administrator Joseph Jones, center, and Standards Specialist Sam Niederhelm, right, about their new Electronic Spec Book at MoDOT's 2013 Tool and Equipment Innovations Showcase & Innovations PrOMo Challenge. The Electronic Spec Book (which will be available very soon) converts the standard specifications to an e-book suitable for viewing on iPads, Kindles, Nooks, PCs and smart phones. The software, which was judged "Best in Show", enables MoDOT employees, contractors and consultants to search, bookmark and make notes.
Keith Killen, (left) Transportation Project Manager, explains one alternative for the U.S. 54 Mississippi River (Champ Clark) Bridge at a public meeting in Louisiana, MO. The project is in the environmental assessment phase and not yet funded for construction.
Sr. Construction Inspector Burt Pitchford oversees contractor crews as they pour concrete to shape a bridge wall on the Rte. 39 bridge over Table Rock Lake at Shell Knob.

MoDOT has made great strides to build a good transportation system and increase taxpayers' trust in its ability to deliver what was promised. Innovative concepts, such as Practical Design and design-build, were used to deliver those commitments and have made MoDOT a leader in the transportation industry.

These forward-thinking, innovative concepts are reflected in the ENGINEERING POLICY GUIDE (EPG). This document provides a single reference for all engineering and engineering-related guidance by combining the former Right of Way, Design, Bridge, Construction, Traffic and Maintenance manuals.

MediaWiki, the engine behind the Wikipedia on the World Wide Web, is the software delivering the EPG. Millions of hits on the EPG endorse this format to be easy to navigate and pleasing to read. A small HELP ARTICLE is included to assist with helpful hints on how to use the EPG as well as other points of interest.

Crews are making great progress installing the steel for the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge replacement.
Perhaps you've wondered how many hits the most popular EPG articles have. As of mid-April, the numbers of hits are:
