RECENT POLICY CHANGES IN THE EPG
About 180 miles of U.S. 71 between Kansas City and Pineville is now officially I-49. As the I-49 unveiling ceremony was concluding, crews began uncovering and turning signs all along the corridor. Sr. Maintenance Worker Phil Smith works at Rte. AA just south of Neosho.

Charges light up the old westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge. The blasting subcontractor, Demtech, Inc. from Wyoming, dropped the 4.5 million lb., 1030 ft. span into the Missouri River with 65 lbs. of explosives using linear shaped charges specifically designed to cut the steel. The detonating velocity was 28,000 ft/sec and the whole shot took 0.17 thousands of a second. Crews will be pulling out the pieces over the next few days.
Sr. Maintenance Workers Mike Niemeyer and Allen Cassmeyer, Intermed. Maintenance Worker Harold Johnson and Sr. Maintenance Worker Mark Martin add asphalt to a Rte. 47 trench. They replaced a pipe, filled the trench up to 3"-4" from the top with rock then leveled it off with 3"-4" of hot material. After it settles, they will add more.

MoDOT has made great strides to build a good transportation system and increase taxpayers' trust in its ability to deliver what was promised. Innovative concepts, such as Practical Design and design-build, were used to deliver those commitments and have made MoDOT a leader in the transportation industry.

These forward-thinking, innovative concepts are reflected in the ENGINEERING POLICY GUIDE (EPG). This document provides a single reference for all engineering and engineering-related guidance by combining the former Right of Way, Design, Bridge, Construction, Traffic and Maintenance manuals.

MediaWiki, the engine behind the Wikipedia on the World Wide Web, is the software delivering the EPG. Millions of hits on the EPG endorse this format to be easy to navigate and pleasing to read. A small HELP ARTICLE is included to assist with helpful hints on how to use the EPG as well as other points of interest.
